The Vision: The Story Behind TechDefined

Eren Lindara, founder of TechDefined, seated in a black suit and tie against a light background.

Discover the story behind TechDefined, from its founder’s upbringing in Melbourne and lived experience with keratoconus to the vision of supporting more inclusive digital experiences.

From Melbourne’s North Side

I grew up on the north side of Melbourne, in a family that had to build everything from the ground up.

My parents came from Sri Lanka during a time of war. They arrived with limited money and no formal education, but they taught me the value of hard work, adaptability and creating my own path.

Growing up, I experienced some of the more difficult sides of life. Those experiences shaped my resilience, my perspective and the way I approach challenges.

I have always believed in earning every opportunity and building something meaningful for both myself and my team.

Seeing the World Differently

I live with keratoconus, a condition that affects the shape of the cornea and changes the way I see the world.

My vision is not simply blurry. I experience multiple overlapping images, and I rely on hard contact lenses to see more clearly because standard glasses are not suitable for my vision needs.

I am also waiting for a donor cornea for a future corneal graft.

Living with this condition has influenced how I approach life, creativity and business. It has encouraged me to notice details that others may overlook and to think more deeply about how people experience the digital world.

The Interests That Shape My Work

Outside of work, I am passionate about:

  • music
  • art
  • electronic music
  • LEGO
  • Pokémon
  • cars
  • fitness

Fitness is more than a hobby for me. It represents discipline, consistency and focus.

Each of these interests develops a different part of how I think. They support creativity, strategy, precision and persistence—qualities that I bring to TechDefined every day.

Why I Founded TechDefined

I founded TechDefined because I was frustrated by digital spaces that leave people behind.

Accessibility should not be treated as a temporary trend, a checklist item or something that can be addressed without care.

Digital accessibility requires thoughtful testing, clear reporting and practical improvement.

At TechDefined, our role is to identify accessibility barriers observed during testing, document findings within the agreed testing scope and provide practical recommendations.

Where implementation support is agreed, we can also assist with addressing identified barriers and retesting relevant areas after changes have been completed.

Accessibility Requires Human Insight

Automated tools can support accessibility testing, but technology alone cannot identify every barrier or understand every user experience.

Meaningful accessibility work also requires:

  • human judgement
  • lived experience
  • careful observation
  • practical testing
  • an understanding of assistive technology
  • awareness of how people interact with digital services

Real accessibility work benefits from people who understand the details and recognise the barriers that automated tools may miss.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, I hope to work with medical organisations and institutions to support stronger accessibility practices and advocate for people with visual impairments.

The goal is to help create digital services that are more usable, understandable and inclusive.

TechDefined will continue focusing on real-world accessibility barriers, practical recommendations and meaningful improvement.

Building TechDefined With Purpose

From growing up on Melbourne’s north side to building an accessibility-focused company, the values behind my work have remained the same.

I remain independent, driven and committed to building TechDefined with purpose.

My experiences have shaped how I see the world and how I approach accessibility—not as a marketing statement, but as an area that requires responsibility, care and consistent effort.

That is the story behind TechDefined.

A company built from lived experience, resilience and a commitment to supporting better digital experiences.
